What You Deserve

Having worked with over 20,000 people it seems most people, no matter how competent and in charge they seem, have a small something missing. A sense of deserving.

When we are children we have no ideas of rules and social order. Everything is a joy or an exploration. That would continue to be true if something hadn’t stopped us. That something was someone bigger telling us to be quiet, slow down, pay attention. They told us this with enough strength and warning that we hurt on the inside. We made a silent promise that from then on we’ll try to do things differently.
  • We’ll work a little harder for their approval.
  • We’ll try not to be so noticeable.
  • We’ll do better to accomplish more.
  • We’ll try to be smarter.
  • We’ll become so strong no one could hurt us.

 

In making that promise we are agreeing that to be better we could not be the child we were. We made a small hole in our soul and promised not to fill it. We never considered that we deserve better. There is a point when working with my clients they get an understanding of what’s been missing. They fill that hole, no matter how small it may be, with the joy, the love, the sense of deserving that they’ve been missing.
